What I want to be when I grow up.

I've figured it out. All of this soul searching and trying to find the meaning of my life and all I had to do was to attend a simple baseball game. A baseball game? A baseball game. Yes, that's right, my life's dream is to now be a major league maestro...a DJ, if you will. I would definitely steal some of the Atlanta Braves DJ's ideas...like "It takes two to make a thang go ri-ight..." for some double play action...brilliant, no? But would I have the guts to play "Man of Constant Sorrow" when the pitcher gets benched? How about "Oh won't you staa-ay just a little bit longer..." when the coaches are meeting on the mound to discuss getting new blood from the bullpen? What's funny about this little revelation of mine is that I actually did this in high school. I played music inbetween innings my senior year for our baseball team. But, there were so many restrictions and limitations as to what I could play...nothing offensive or vulgar so I was basically left with selections from the Forrest Gump soundtrack. All kidding aside, I think it'd be tons of fun but you have to know somebody to get that kind of gig and I don't know anybody.

I did go to see the Braves vs. Marlins on 9/25 and I had a great time. I've always enjoyed the sport but the company this time was what made it so interesting! I had Mari, sports fanatic til the day she dies, on my left talking stats with Drew, her boyfriend, and the ratio of strikes to walks pitched with me. On my right were Mo & Heather trying to figure out the right championship game terminology. Mo: "Is it the Super Bowl?" Me: "You mean the World Series?" Mo: "Oh yeah, that's it..." It made quite the humorous day for me.

The day started out interestingly enough. We were to meet at Heather's because she lives in the city and then carpool to Turner Field from there. Once we were all ready to leave, Mari realized she left the tickets in her car which was 30 mins up the road because she had met Drew and they drove his car into the city. Drew and a friend of his headed back up to get the tickets and the girls all hopped in my car and headed to the field a little later. Traffic and parking were a nightmare, which bothered Mari to no end. She had planned the day so that we would miss traffic and get to our seats for all of the pre-game action. We finally found a lot that wasn't only for permit holders but it was $20. Mari was getting antsy about missing the game so she threw a 20 at me but I kept on going. One because I knew we could find cheaper and two because the guys weren't there with the tickets yet anyway. I found a grass lot that a bunch of people were parking in but no one was there taking any money. Well we parked there too but I had visions of a horrid towing bill dancing in my head so I thought I'd better do some inquiring before heading to the game. There were 2 cops on motorcycles and one in a car all chatting with each other right in front of the lot so I asked one of them, very politely, if it was ok to park there. He just shrugged and mumbled something about it being a private lot. Can I just say that I love unhelpful public servants? Thanks. We decided to take our chances since there were 50 other cars besides mine in the lot and since Mari was about to go stir crazy. We made it to the front entrance but the guys weren't there yet so we decided to go into the very nasty KFC across from the field to use the bathroom. Long story short, I dropped my keys in the toilet. Yes, yes I did.

Drew & Co. finally arrived with the tickets, we had tons of fun, the Braves didn't score until after we got there, they beat the Marlins 5-3, I didn't have to pay to park, my car did not get towed, and my keyless entry still worked! Oh, AND I realized my DESTINY.

Currently listening to: X&Y - Coldplay (still on a high from last week!)
