Now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything and the one son who had no choice but to keep them together...

...it's Arrested Development. I just finished watching Season One and it was hilarious! High-larious even! I borrowed the set from a friend at work. I think I found the guest appearances by Liza Minnelli (!), Henry Winkler, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (probably my two favorite episodes thus far), Amy Poehler, and so many others the most humorous. If you haven't seen it, give it chance...the subtle humor is rich, so rich.

My mother and I both had to bring some sort of snack to work today so we decided to venture to the grocery store together. I also had Little Miss Can't Be Wrong with me. As we were walking up to the door she started feeding Nana some line about needing a certain type of cart...one she could lay down in because she was getting tired. Riiight. I knew what she was going for, but Nana fell for it and let her get the race car buggy. After pushing it maybe two steps, my mom looked at me and said, "You're gonna have to push this thing." Niiice. My sister usually won't let Jordan get one of these ridiculous carts and now I know exactly why. Not only was it a complete bitch to maneuver in and out of the aisles, it was complete with one of the warped and wobbly wheels, of course. Sorry for the bad pic...I don't know why I just had to have a camera phone.

Speaking of aisles...who plans the layout of these places anyway? A perfect example: ice cream, aisle 19, with a sign on the freezer stating ice cream condiments can be found on aisle 7. My logic tells me to put corresponding items together. I can't tell you how many times I've gone up and down aisle after aisle looking for a particular item. Can anyone feel my pain? Does anyone agree with me here?

On another randomly funny note...my sister brought my mail in to me when she dropped my niece off...she kinda looked at me funny and asked, "Can I be nosy?" I replied, "Sure" and she then asked, "Why do you have two packages from Atlanta Criminal Records?" Heh. I then explained to her that I heard a new band over the weekend and ordered their CD, which I bought from Criminal Records, in Atlanta! So, my Three5Human CD got here, and, to be honest, it isn't as great as they were at the concert...and they sent it to me twice. Oh well.

It's nasty, rainy, and stormy over this way today...Ophelia aftermath, I suppose...incidentally, appropriate name for a hurricane, seeing as how the literary character drowned herself and all.

Lil Miss Can't Be Wrong and Me

Slip Slidin' Away

Up next...another graceful story starring me, with supporting roles by my brother-in-law, my sister, and my niece. Let me just set the scene if I may...

Picture it. An evening in late summer...a family birthday celebration about to commence...and all four of the above characters trying to make it to the patriarch's house and running late!

My niece (Jordan - 5 yrs old and as cute as EV-AR! See photo at left for proof) was being ornery so my sister (Ashley) reprimanded her. Well, unfortunately, Jordan is as sensitive (she gets this from my sister) as she is ornery (she gets this from me), SO...the tears came. My sister was flustered, my bro-in-law (Chris) was trying to comfort my niece, and I decided to drive on my own instead of ride with them! Let me give you some backstory and details...1. Chris had mowed the grass earlier that day 2. the foyer is very dark when the lights aren't on. That being said...on their way out the door, Ash tripped on Chris's shoes...1. he left them there so as to not track grass in the house 2. she didn't see them in the dark. Well, she fell face first into the back of the front door. Ok, normally that would be funny because she wasn't hurt or anything...BUT she's pregnant (YAY!!) so the potential for harm was extremely heightened. Chris started laughing which started Jordan laughing which set Ashley off! She spouted off something about what if she hadn't caught herself against the door and had fallen on the baby...then I didn't hear the rest because they were out the door. By the time I got out the door Ashley was in the car and Chris had just finished putting Jordan in her carseat. Well, I noticed it was raining so instead of going down the steps immediately in front of me I decided to walk down the front porch to a set of steps closer to the carport...and I fell. Flat on my ass. Well, more like flat on my back. My feet just slipped right out from under me and I had no where to go but down. They actually didn't see any of this happen because while I was quietly busting my ass, Chris (who has the undeniable gift of making people laugh - hysterically) was pretending to fall as he walked to get into car, trying to put Ashley in a better mood and to help her see the humor in the situation. Well when they looked up and saw me turning around to walk back in the house with my whole backside soaking wet, they definitely found some humor. Although, my spill actually hurt very badly. It was a stinging hurt. Since neither my sister or my bro-in-law could get it together enough to come in and check on me, they sent Jordan in. She was so sweet, telling me about a similar situation when she fell a couple of days before and hurt her knee. My sister did come in and check on me once she gained composure! I changed clothes and we finally made it to my parents house. But my ass was black and blue for days!

Acoustic Music for the Soul

Wow, it's been a while since I updated, huh? Well, I guess I've been really busy but were you to ask me what all has been going on I'd say, with all of the certainty in the world, "Nothing much! How bout you?"

I can tell you that I've spent the past two weekends at Chastain Park Amphitheater and I've immensely enjoyed every minute of it! September 3rd was a night with Jack Johnson and September 10th was an evening with the Indigo Girls.

The weather was great for Jack, there were six of us so the company was superb, and he is excellent live. Matt Costa and ALO (which stands for Animal Liberation Orchestra) were the opening acts and not too much to write home about. I was all about it until he sang "Better Together" and dedicated it to his loving wife. No, no, just kidding...it's still a great song even if it wasn't dedicated to me.

And let me just tell you...Emily & Amy rocked out, as they always do, but still! Great weather and company for that one as well. The opening band was Magnapop, which I didn't particularly care for, so I just drank my glass of wine and surveyed my surroundings...great people watching at this one! The Girls commanded the stage and filled the night with the personification of perfect harmony in voice and chords. And with only a mandolin & guitar, guitar & guitar, or banjo & guitar. Their bus driver did come out and accompany them on the keys for one song (how cute is that?!). They also had Three5Human join them at the end for a few songs and they were awesome...I ordered their cd this morning. Emily introduced them saying she didn't know how they weren't top of the charts raging famous by now and I have to say that I totally agree.

My camera is back from summer vacation now, but not in time for me to document the above with photos. So, please accept my apologies for the non-pleasing to the eye post.

And in other news, I was offered the job in Atlanta but ended up not taking it...just wasn't the right fit. So, I'm still located in the ever lovely Southeast Tennessee for now!
