Crash into me...

The Oscars.

Yes, I watched them.

Yes, I went to a party.

Yes, it was themed.

Yes, I rawked out the theme...to the core.

It's a sort of six degrees of separation thing but here it goes. The hostess dubbed my topic as "Best Supporting Actress" so I chose Catherine Keener from Capote. She plays the character Harper Lee, author of To Kill A Mockingbird, so I fixed bird's nests (ok, four degrees of separation...whatever). I know, I know, I am the non-incarcerated version of Martha herself. But instead of jelly beans I used Cadbury Mini Eggs (not to be confused with the Cadbury Creme Eggs...blech!), which happen to be the soul reason I love spring. Well, those and the Chicks, Ducks, & Bunnies Sweetarts...mmm, mmm, mmm.

But back to the topic at hand...I was thrilled when "Crash" won Best Picture. If you haven't seen it, go. Rent it now. Skip Will & Grace, ER, Survivor, CSI...or whatever it is you do on Thursdays and watch.this.movie. I have never been more emotionally wrought or captivated by a movie. I walked away saying that everyone, no matter who you are, should see this, it is such an awakening experience. There are so many facets to this picture, in the title alone, not to mention all of the cleverly intertwining story lines. The predominant theme is racism. But, it is broken down to the most intricate level exploring all stereotypes and prejudice. It manages to reach and speak to the depths of heart, mind, and soul. I was left with tears, goose bumps, and revelation about myself and others. Do yourself a favor and watch it. Watch it on a personal level.

As far as the other winners and categories are concerned, I will only touch on Best Actor and Best Actress. Congrats to them both on stellar performances but to me Reese Witherspoon will always be legally blonde and Philip Seymour Hoffman will always be the guy who sharted.

Currently listening to: Stand Up - Dave Matthews Band
